So, this was a definite learning experience. I learned to rebuild individual parts on a figure. I may have even discovered a new curse word in the process. Basically a client came to me with a broken prototype of the Shocker Toys Jack Staff. I told him upfront that this would take quite a while to do as I had never approached something like this. His words “Work your magic.” Well… magic takes a lot of time and effort apparently. This has truly been a process that I’ll never forget. The material used to create the figure is a very brittle plastic/resin that crumbles very easily. I essentially had to frankenstein most of him back together. There was a ton of AVES Fix-It Sculpt used to recreate the bicep and forearm joints, ankles and wrists. The elbow section was rebuilt using my “credit card” method. Basically, I take ID badge cards, (think of a blank credit card) superglue them together and then dremel the shape that I want. I also used cheap plastic paint brushes to make pegs for the shoulders, legs, arms and etc. You can see the final piece here. Whew! Hope you guys appreciate this as much as I worked on it.
